Interesting to read your ideas on Lithium Batteries. On the shut down problem, I suspect a simple solution worth a try is to have a two stage turn on system where power (current) is initially supplied to the detector by a resistor, say 5.6 ohm 5 watt and then after a few seconds the resistor is bypassed by switch contacts in the on position. This type of idea is used in electronic equipment to limit the \"inrush\" current to an acceptable level while the capacitors etc charge in the equipment, then once the initial surge is over, the resistance is switched out so as to provide full voltage and current potential to the gear. Might be worth a try?

Just to confirm
Ishmael said in a post on this forum that the SD 2100 can be run directly off a 7.2 volt lithium pack without damage to the detector. What is the maximum voltage that the 2100 will take?
Thanks
