Hi all,

Some interesting new info from Allan with regards to coils. He was recently on a trip and told me that he found with the mod the Minelab 8" coil was considerably more sensitive and more depth than our old faithful 10" Elliptical Coiltek coil. He said he was able to turn the sensitivity controls almost fully on and get very good results. Also he noticed that his detector was a little noisy and found that by opening the balance end and moving the ferrite toroid (the little orange or grey ring) on the coil leads down towards the PCB as far as he could without stressing the leads made the machine a whole lot quieter. If I can find what value of toroids are used I will be experimenting with filtering the detector even more. I did try before but the toroids I had made the detector more noisier.

I suuggest you give these tips a try and see what happens.... Can't do any harm! :D

Regards
Ismael
