G'day,
In all the discussions on the Internet forums relating to the Minelab PIs I don't recall anyone ever mentioning the discrimination capabilities of the SD/GPs. Does anyone use the descrimination mode, or do you dig everything?
Regards,
Rob (RKC)

Regarding Minelabs discrim capabilities, they're a bit of a joke <_< if you accept they work to 6" depth at most and on iron targets bigger than coin size, you can utilise the feature. Where you can see lots of surface rubbish for instance. Don't expect real discrim on any SD/GP

I would have to agree with pennyweight on this one. Not many people I know use it and after reading the manual of the SD2200 I can see why. In it they admit that you may not see small gold and it really only effectively works to 100mm, Garrets Infinium did it the right way regardless of what Chris Hake has said on Finders in the past. When I was designing a PI I informed everyone who asked that I wouldn't even contemplate it, however now if I wasto design a PI I would do it the way Garretts did it. Their way is truly genius and normal discrimination with PI's is virtually impossible.
Hope this helps

I came across a thread on Eric Fosters PI forum on tone ID, Reg's reply on the effects of GB adjust and target response might be of interest to all users including those who swing a 2000 & 2100.
