Tape on search coils was created by Fishrover
I've read in a Minelab Instruction Manual that it's a definite 'no,no' to use adhesive tape on coils to locate skid plates.
While I can understand why insulation tape or silver duct tape might have some effect on the field of the coil, would cotton or rayon backed adhesive tape have a similar effect ?
I'm sure one or more of our very knowledgeable technical contributors can elaborate on this.

Black tape in the past has been problematic due to the high carbon content, but I would avoid electrical tape anyway because it makes such a mess, go for a good quality Gaffa tape (coiltek and Nugget Finder sell or provide this type of tape) which is far less messy and less prone to heat.

Thanks for the information JP.
I have a Nuggetfinder mono with the type of tape on it you have described.
I've got similar tape branded "Cling", but I was hesitant to use it without checking first.
Further research has also indicated that a tape 'problem' is more likely to occur with a "DD" than mono.
Hope to meet you some day.
Clermont is fairly high on my "Bucket List".
Cheers,
Fishrover

Leukosilk tape is very good its a medical tape, you can get it at your local pharmacy or maybe supermarket?
it`s about the same price as the nuggetfinder coiltek tape.
