SD2100v2

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the SD2100v2. Is there any truth to information suggesting that these models were not up to the performance of the original (green box) 2100's. Were they made to perform below par as they were introduced in 2002 when newer models were being released?
The second part of my question is can they be modded similar to original 2100's?

PS I can pick up a new 2100v2 for $2000 so that's why I'm interested in this model. I also like manual GB detectors and overall simplicity of the the 2100.
