Hi All, I know I have been a stranger for a long while, and most would already know that I stopped doing mods and repairs except for those that really wasn't rushed. My other interests have taken me away from the mods and because I got so many repairs that had hot melt glue all over the detectors that literally took hours to remove I decided it wasn't worth the effort. I know that this leaves you very little choice in where to go but to be quite honest with the release of the newer GPX detectors and the good old 4500 I really don't see much point in modding any more. I personally would only mod as a very last resort if you can't afford a second hand 4500. Anyway you are welcome to still contact me in case I can help you as you never know when I might be able to do a quick mod here or there. Another important advice is that I am moving this site in the next few days so it may be down for a while, I like to keep it open for all of those that like to read the old information and I don't mind paying every year to keep it running. I would also like to know if anyone would like to take over the running of the site, I mean someone that would like to try and keep it up to date with news and forum information? Preferably in Perth or WA but not a requirement. I will still be o hand also. So in reality another moderator. Anyway, I will try and keep in touch but I am quite involved in other things at the moment so my free time is pretty well non-existant!! Happy prospecting and the best of luck.... I didn't even get one day detecting this year, hopefully next..
Well, after a lot of changing and farting around the wireless battery system is now available. Photos updated with new labels 08 Feb 2010...
Hi All, I wish to apologise to all those that have sent me and asked me questions over the last 6 weeks. As some of you know I have moved back to Perth and sold my House in Dally. All this culminated into an on running disaster for me.... First finding a rental in Perth was a nightmare and then I had to accept the first thing that came along. To that end I had to build a workshop!! That is completed but due to the lack of Air Con and being extremely hot this has slowed my work load tremendously only being able to function in the cooler times and at night. To add to that Xmas and New Year Holidays, plus after getting back to the big smoke my internet has slowed, I have lost the phone and internet 3 times for more that a day at a time and 3 days once! Had 3 power failures and the list just goes on and on and on.... This all in the first 2 weeks and I have only been here 3.5 now! Really made a mistake leaving the bush!! Anyway I hope to get on top of everything in the next week, so if all stays calm I will be back in full shortly. Also I know this is belated but was beyond my control, I wish everyone a Belated Merry Xmas and hope that you all have a very prosperous and healthy New Year. Ismael.
Hi All, sorry for the lack of updates and replies but see above article for details!! Okay this is the first of the units (prototype if you like). The release version will be the same except it will have slide switches and not toggle (Maybe!!). I have tested the unit thoroughly even to point of doing heat stress tests on the system and it has passed with flying colors! IT ran my detector for a straight 10 hours and I then disconnected it and recharged the batteries which takes me no longer than 90 minutes. This charged the battery to the full 8A. The receiver box takes 45-55 minutes (I have to charge that at no more than 1A).
There have been a lot of rumours of Minelab not repairing modded detectors and unfortunately this is true....
